Dr. Ilse Whitcombe, MD

Founder and pediatrician, practicing since 1998

Bring every question. A parent who asks is a parent who is paying attention.

Dr. Whitcombe opened Lantern Grove Pediatrics in 2009 so a parent could reach a nurse the same day and see the same doctor year after year.

She sees many of the practice's newborns herself. Her favorite is the two-week visit: the baby is gaining, the parents have slept a little, and there is time for every question.

Off duty she walks the hills around Lake Minneola and cheers at her grandchildren's soccer games.

Dr. Mateo Ruelas, MD

Pediatrician, practicing since 2014

Dr. Ruelas joined Lantern Grove in 2017. He sees children of every age, and many of our teens choose him for their yearly checkup and sports physicals.

He speaks English and Spanish, so families can talk with him in the language they prefer.

He coached youth basketball for six seasons and keeps a ball in his office.

Pediatric nurse practitioner, practicing since 2012

Paige Sundholm, APRN, is a pediatric nurse practitioner. She sees sick visits and well checkups, and she runs the Saturday morning sick clinic.

Parents of first babies often ask for her by name for feeding and sleep questions.
